The 6th WEC Presidium and High Level Meeting and IEEPA Consultative Conference were Successfully Held

On June 30th 2013, IEEPA successfully held the 6th WEC Presidium and High Level Meeting and IEEPA Consultative Conference, which attracted the high-level officials from governments, international organizations, foreign embassies, business cycle, new members of IEEPA Consultative Council.

Wang Yuqing, Vice Director of Committee of Population, Resources and Environment of the CPPCC, and He Keng, Vice Chairman of Finance and Economic Committee of National People¡¯s Congress delivered opening remarks respectively. Mr. Wang Yuqing indicated that: Environmental issue is not only associated with economy, but also with the people's livelihood and politics. Environmental protection is the convergence point of economic growth, improvement of the people's livelihood. We shall construct a rich but beautiful China. Mr. He Keng put forward three points: 1. we shall transform development mode, attach importance to ecological civilization construction and low-carbon economic development. 2. We shall respect market rules, adjust industrial structure, governments shall respect and pay attention to enterprises' market behavior; 3. Low-carbon economy is a relative thing while the development is an absolute principle, we shall not merely focus on low-carbon economy.

Concerning the "state and society, how to stride into green and low-carbon road", Guy Saint-Jacques, Ambassador of Canada to China, Irene Giner-Reichl, Ambassador of Austria to China, Mohamed Rasheed, Ambassador of Maldives to China, Ragnar Baldursson, Minister of Embassy of Iceland to China, Emmanuel Stantzos, Minister of Embassy of Greece to China shared their views.

Wei Jianguo£¬Vice President and Secretary-General of China Center for International Economic Exchanges hosted the round-table meeting with topics of "Green and Low-Carbon Development: Enterprise and State£¬Ecological Civilization Construction: Human and Society", and other keynote speakers include Jiang Minglin and Liu Yanhua, counselors of the State Council, He Jiankun, Deputy Director of National Climate Change Expert Committee, Ma Shengrong£¬former Vice Chief-in-Editor of Xinhua News Agency, Du Jianhua, Vice President of Lenovo Group, Zhang Jianqiu, executive president of Yili Industrial Group, Li Jinmiao, vice president of China Ping'an Group, Jari Vepsalainen, co-Chair of Independent Power Producers Forum, Soren Purschel, Director of Deutscher Industrie- und Handelskammertag (DIHK) in China, Zhao Bing, Director of UNAPCAEM, Zhang Yu, Vice President of BOE Technology Group Co., Ltd, Yang Xiaobin, President of Hainan Meilan International Airport Company Limited, Wang Yu, General Manager of China International Water & Electric Corp., Xu Xiaodong, Vice President of Guangzhou Libai Enterprise Group Co., Ltd, KOJI OSAWA, Managing Principal & Co-Founder of Global Catalyst Partner (GCP), Akihiko TAMURA, General Manager of Japan-China Economic Association Beijing Office, Steve Insop Song, President of Daegu Technopark and so on.

IEEPA secretary-general Jon Li released the Proposal on Treasuring Company¡¯s Initiatives to Boost Global Green and Low-Carbon Development, calling on the companies to be a firm practitioner in green and low-carbon development concept: advocate public welfare activities, extend the concept of saving resource, improving energy efficiency and low-carbon emission into each aspect of enterprise development; and calling on governmental agencies, NGOs, news media, and each citizen to take actual action to push forward global green and low-carbon development, deepen industrial reform, and continue harmonious development!
