IEEPA Held a Meeting with UNESCO about 2013 Project Cooperation

On March 1 2013, in accordance with the consensus reached by IEEPA and United Nations Educational£¨Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), the two parties launched 2013 project cooperation and exchange plan. Secretary-General Jon Li and Dr. Jayakumar, UNESCO senior environmental officer, held talks on behalf of their own organizations.

As for the 6th (China) World Economic and Environmental Conference 2013 (the 6th WEC) , the two parties will continue to cooperate and hope to convene a high-level consultative conference of WEC presidium. The main attendees to be invited include: leaders of UN system and international organizations, governmental ministerial-level officials, ambassadors of different countries, CEOs of global top 500 and renowned corporations. Moreover, the 3rd International Carbon-Value Award and press conference of the 6th WEC will be held concurrently.

Besides, the two parties have exchanged suggestions and opinions on the research report of China Textile and Clothes Industries Green Circular Economy Development (Special Research Topic on Recycling and Reuse of Used Clothes) drafted by IEEPA Research Department. Dr. Jayakumar appreciated this topic and indicated that UNESCO may give support to it, specially in the fields of education, culture, capacity-building etc. Meanwhile, the two parties also made a discussion on how to draft guiding file of handbook ecological uniform for elementary and secondary school.

Finally, both parties hoped to expand their cooperation to more fields such as visiting or sharing views with partners, cities and enterprises about specific project.
