Secretary-General Jon Li Held Talks with Minister of German Embassy in China

On May 8, 2012, IEEPA Secretary-General Jon Li arrived at the German Embassy in China, and held talks with Beate Grzeski, Minister of German Embassy in China. The two parties   extended friendly relations, laying the foundation for future cooperation. Greta Maria Lacchini, Project Officer of LCS International Cooperation Center and Cordula Geinitz, Project Officer of German Embassy in China, also participated in the talks.

Jon Li first introduced IEEPA¡¯s current ¡°green and low-carbon cities¡± and ¡°green benefit enterprises¡± projectsand expressed his wish to cooperate with Germany in terms of China¡¯s green and low-carbon development. Then he briefed the current preparation of the 5th World Economic and Environmental Conference (2012 WEC) and the 2nd China International Forum on Climate Change, exchanged ideas with Ms. Grzeski, and warmly invited her and the other officials of German Embassy in China to attend the 2012 WEC. Jon Li hoped the German Embassy could help IEEPA invite the Minister of Environment in Germany, mayors, experts, and business leaders to attend the 2012 WEC.

Ms. Grzeski showed strong interest in IEEPA¡¯s projects and was willing to establish a partnership with IEEPA for further cooperation in relevant areas and projects. Regarding the 2012 WEC, the two sides will build a regular-based communication mechanism. The German Embassy will provide necessary support during the preparation of the 2012 WEC and will send officials to attend the conference.

At the end of the meeting, the two sides declared  their firm intentions to collaborate in organizingworkshops aimed at breaking policy bottlenecks and technological limits in the future.
