IEEPA Secretary-General Held Talks with Officer of EU Delegation in China

On February 29, 2012, IEEPA Secretary-General Jon Li arrived in Beijing Office of Delegation of the European Union in China, and held talks with Heidi Hiltunen, Environment Counselor of Delegation of the European Union in China. Both sides focused their talks on possible cooperative projects.

Jon Li firstly introduced IEEPA¡¯s current projects of ¡°green and low-carbon cities¡± and ¡°green benefit enterprises¡±, and hoped to cooperate with EU in terms of China¡¯s green and low-carbon development; besides, he also briefed the current preparation of the 5th World Economic and Environmental Conference (2012WEC) and the 2nd China International Forum on Climate Change.

Ms Heidi made a brief introduction on EU aid projects, she said: EU has already started to make an plan on aid projects this year, which currently focused on sustainable urbanization, water pollution, environmental governance fields and so on, at the same time, she also explained the project contents, procedure and implementation conditions and so on.

Jon Li said: IEEPA was a professional international organization, its major task was to boost the sustainability between China¡¯s economy and environment, push forward cities and enterprises¡¯ green and low-carbon development, offer systematic solutions, upgrade competitive edge; years of hard work, IEEPA has accumulated resource advantages and technology capacity, and formed sound partnership with government bodies, international organizations, foreign embassies in China; besides, IEEPA would like to establish cooperation with European Union in relevant fields, to jointly boost China¡¯s efforts in addressing climate change and sustainability.

Ms Heidi figured that both sides may deepen their contact, with a view to create favorable framework on future cooperation.
